One of the usual causes of hemorrhoids is aging so parents don’t think that their children could also be prone to this type of condition. Studies reveal that half of the populace tend to be affected by hemorrhoids by the time they turn 50 and most sufferers do not seek medical help. Though the old are the usual victims of hemorrhoids, parents should be very careful and vigilant as their precious children could also be under this ordeal. Hemorrhoids also do not pick gender as both man and woman can acquire it.

Though hemorrhoids can happen to children but in most cases the severity of the condition is not too serious. It usually goes off with time but sometimes the help of a doctor can be necessary. The two types of hemorrhoids—internal and external, can affect the youngsters. It is also observed that hemorrhoids are usually common in families with a history of this kind of condition. So if a parent once acquired it, then it has greater chances that a child can also get it, whether in the younger years or later stages off life.

Sometimes if a mother gets hemorrhoids during pregnancy, there is a possibility that it can be passed along the child. Some children develop constipation and they will strain to make their bowels move. And this can be the key reason why children have hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids in children are usually due to constipation because they often do not observe proper bowel movements. Also, constipation over time has been known to develop hemorrhoids. For parents, they need to be extra careful with their children who have hemorrhoids. This is because the treatments used by adults may not work for them. And this condition is often overlooked by parents because not a big number of children acquire hemorrhoids compared to older people. So there are not too many hemorrhoid treatments available for children.

Adults suffering from hemorrhoids usually opt for surgery such as laser coagulation in order to ease their condition. However, surgery should be avoided when children acquire hemorrhoids. A natural remedy would be a safe and effective alternative.

Children suffering from hemorrhoids can be an uncomfortable situation for parents. A healthy diet high in fiber and fluids can be a good way of treating the condition. Juices and berries are great remedies such as cranberry juice, red currents, pomegranate juice or fruits like bananas, papaya and oranges.

You can also encourage your child to develop an active lifestyle and allot some time in doing exercises. Take note that an exercise can stop the onset of bowel issues. Warm baths and cool compresses can alleviate discomfort of your child. It is also important for the parents to keep an eye for the symptoms of constipation, weight loss, and hard, dry stool. If hemorrhoids persist, it is advisable to visit the doctor to help ease their situation.
