Majority of people who suffer from hemorrhoids tend to ignore this condition. But no matter how you try to disregard it, the symptoms are still felt and it is getting worse day by day. Hemorrhoids should not be considered a taboo subject especially now that there are many remedies discovered in curing hemorrhoids. These treatments may range from medical to natural remedies.

Recent studies conducted in India reveals that a certain herb known as Euphorbia prostata, is an effective way of treating hemorrhoids and anal fissures. A study at the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Punjab University, Chandigarh, shows that more than 32,000 patients suffering from piles or hemorrhoids have benefited from oral (capsule/tablet) and topical (cream/gel) Euphorbia prostata. And the best thing is, no side effects were reported.

Because of the success of this study, one pharmaceutical company together with Punjab University has patented the technology of extracting flavonoids from Euphorbia prostata. In this technology, the said company has unveiled India’s first hundred percent integrated and natural piles management system popularly known as “Thank God.” The company has also patented the product and plans to distribute it in all parts of the globe including Europe, Latin America, and other parts of Asia. The kit is said to combine the uses of flavonoids with those of naturally occurring ispaghulla husk and is also composed of relief capsules, topical cream, isphaghulla husk, pain and relief cream and an applicator.

The Euphorbia prostata is originally used by Indians as an infallible treatment against bites of poisonous insects and snakes, especially the rattle-snake. This plant’s major ingredient is flavonoids. It has great potential in providing benefits on human health since they are known to have antiviral, anti-allergic, anti-platelet, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor and antioxidant activities.

In another study conducted in 2001 under the supervision of Dr. M.P. Arora of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Dr. V.K. Malik of Maulana Azad Medical College, 118 patients suffering from bleeding hemorrhoids were administered with Euphorbia prostata-based flavonoids. These patients were examined days of medication in order to determine the improvement in symptoms related to hemorrhoids. This study is particularly aimed to explore and certify the benefits of flavonoids extracted from Euphorbia prostata in hemorrhoid treatment. At the end of the eight-month trial, doctors noticed a statistical difference in the cure rate profile among the patients who were given flavonoids.

With all these studies, it is now certain that flavonoids extracted from Euphorbia prostata can lessen hemorrhoid symptoms such as bleeding, pain, inflammation, and itching. They also promote effective wound healing. Certainly, Euphorbia prostata has shown great benefits in the entire efficacy parameters of bleeding hemorrhoids and show minimal side-effects, with high tolerance among patients.

Experts also suggest that these flavonoids will be more effective when combined with other natural remedies such as ispaghulla husk, among others. This kind of approach will significantly reduce the recurrence in hemorrhoids or piles.

Experts opine that such a rationally formulated combination therapy seems to have an exponential and positive remedial effect, and may speed up recovery from the symptoms of piles. This would be a big relief for the many patients hiding their condition and suffering from pain will finally end.
