Hemorrhoid banding or ligation is another popular treatment for hemorrhoids During the initial stages of hemorrhoids, natural treatment therapies, mild medication, and proper food intake will definitely work in alleviating the discomfort brought by the condition. But in case of severe hemorrhoid conditions, clinical treatment therapies such as Injection Sclerotherapy, Infrared Photocoagulation, Laser Coagulation as well as Hemorrhoidectomy are the proper remedies in treating hemorrhoids. Apart from these, hemorrhoid banding or ligation is another effective method.

The hemorrhoid banding is one of the most popular clinical therapies in hemorrhoid treatment. Aside from being popular, it is also considered as the oldest therapies. So if natural therapies prove to be useless in your condition, this method can be a huge help. This type of treatment will actually focus on the blood supply itself since hemorrhoids are the swollen blood vessels located in the anus region. In this therapy, it will involve the cutting down of the blood supply to the affected area so that the protrusions will wither away due to lack of blood supply.

Once the blood flow is back to normal, you can expect your hemorrhoids to be gone in a snap so you can lead a healthy life. The procedure in hemorrhoid banding is actually not very elaborate. During the said therapy, the physician uses a small rubber band in order to cut the blood supply to the hemorrhoid from the body. After, the blood supply will be permanently nipped off and the veins in the piles will dry up. And before you know it, your hemorrhoids are gone. This procedure takes place after administering the proper anesthesia and would also take some time. In most cases however, the time duration will usually span for fifteen days.

In doing the procedure, one might think that hemorrhoid banding is very simple. However, the period in which the rubber band is put on the hemorrhoids, is very painful so you have to be prepared for it. Also, the recovery period might take longer than you expected. You also have to remember that hemorrhoid banding is not appropriate to those cases with fourth degree prolapsed hemorrhoids. There are times that the pain brought by hemorrhoids will tend to get worse so you have to be ready to spend a few sleepless nights. After the procedure in hemorrhoid banding, you may also experience excessive bleeding. Cases of infection may also happen. And in this case, you need to consult your doctor to treat this problem.

But you will also be grateful after the hemorrhoid banding procedure because it will help you get back to your everyday normal life. You will no longer have to worry on the discomfort, itch, pain and other symptoms of hemorrhoids. In most cases, hemorrhoids do not get back after hemorrhoid banding. Hence, it is in your best interest to make sure that you maintain a healthy lifestyle and proper food habits.

Is it true after the first hour of banding the hemorrhoid is dead. I had mine done and the band came of after a couple of hours. I had an intense feeling of going to the toilet but couldn’t. We called our Doctor and he said it is fine cause the blood was cut off and there was no need to return and have it band again.
It has been over a year and I think that the hemorrhoid is dead, but it is now a hard lump and will it drop off on it own.
I also got another hemorrhoid due to the sensation of wanting to go to the toilet and it comes and go.
