The quercus alba or commonly known as white oak tree has several medical properties that can cure many diseases. Almost all parts of the tree are used by herbalist in treating various health conditions which include hemorroids. The leaves, inner bark and the cups of the acorn are an important part of many herbal preparations.
The white oak tree’s inner bark is specifically used in the treatment of hemorrhoids, thrush, pyorrhea, and varicose veins. Patients with hemorrhoids have shown fast recovery and relieved of the symptoms associated with the condition. The active ingredients in oak bark are tannin and quercin. Quercin is similar in effect to salicin and is used along with bioflavonoids to strengthen the capillaries and veins. Since hemorrhoids is an abnormality in the veins, the ingredients found in oak bark effectively cure the symptoms.
The bark of the white oak tree contains high amounts of calcium, manganese, potassium and magnesium. Another therapeutic property of the oak bark is it serves as an astringent and antiseptic. It was also proven to control internal bleeding, reduces fever and serves as a diuretic. It is also used as an anti-emetic, an effective treatment for malarial-type fevers and chills. Oak bark is used as an antidote for poisonous plants, insects, and snake bites.
Dr. John Christopher suggests a mucusless diet to help in the treatment of hemorroids. This means an individual should eat raw fruits, vegetables, sprouted grains, nuts and seeds. The oak bark can also be used with cayenne pepper. Cayenne aids in strengthening the veins and arteries because it increases circulation and is rich in calcium.
The combination of 3 parts of oak bark powder, 6 parts comfrey [root powder] and 1 part lobelia powder and mixing it with vegetable glycerine will make it into heavy paste. This is now rolled to form a tappered suppository and then put it in the refrigerator. Before using the oak bark suppository, it is advised to insert a peeled garlic into the rectum. To achieve maximum effects, you have to leave both all night. These will be eliminated the in first bowel movement the next morning.
