Intake of probiotics will help prevent hemorrhoids There have been scientific studies proving probiotics as an effective treatment for hemorrhoids. These friendly bacteria have healing properties that are crucial in reducing the development of hemorrhoids and the prevention from flaring up of hemorrhoids. Probiotics are actually common part of the gastrointestinal micro flora. They are also known as practical microorganisms that have useful effect in the treatment of specific pathologic conditions. These microorganisms colonizing the human gut help digest foods create vitamins including B-12 and K and slows down the growth of pathogenic bacteria.

Probiotics are used by people from different walks of life and are found in different fermented foods like yoghurt, sauerkraut, cheese and a whole lot more. Scientific researches have also proven their part in maintaining the body’s good health. It is essential to keep the intestinal micro flora in balance and create conditions for prevailing of friendly bacteria over pathologic micro flora in the gastro-intestinal tract to boost the body’s immune system.

Probiotics are famous for its many health benefits such as promote recovery from antibiotic-induced diarrhea, relieve constipation, prevent ingestion-associated problems, treat colitis, boost immune system response, detoxify carcinogens, suppress tumors, treat food allergies and a whole lot more. However, factors like stress, preservatives, chlorinated water, and antibiotics could lessen the amount of these friendly and useful bacteria and might upset the normal flora in the intestines.

Disrupted flora will provoke morbid tendencies and conditions not just in the intestinal tract but also in other organs and systems. This could bring discomfort to anyone and result to one’s inability to digest or absorb food, constipation, deficiencies in essential vitamins, and other health problems that could lead to cancer, diabetes, heart disease, depression and chronic fatigue. To prevent this, there is a probiotic therapy that aims to restore the normal micro flora balance.

The most popular probiotics are the strains of lactic acid bacteria like Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium and Streptococcus. Researchers say that the Bifidobacteria account for an approximately 90% of the total colonic beneficial microflora. Although, the population of Lactobacilli is lower in magnitude as compared to Bifidobacteria. The Lactobacilli found in humans can be found in the vagina and in the gastrointestinal tract. It can also produce positive results for the growth of Bifidobacteria colony in the body.

So if you want to treat or prevent hemorrhoids, there are many foods and supplements that are rich in probiotics. Yogurt and milk have a substantial amount of probiotic bacteria. Also kefirs are natural sources of probiotics. Once your gastro-intestinal tract and the colon are healthy, the possibility of getting hemorrhoids is also lower.
